Who can I contact if I have questions about creating my fundraising page?

First of all, thank you for choosing to fundraise with SOS Children’s Villages! The lives of vulnerable children around the world are about to change because of you. How can someone donate to my fundraiser?

Providing vulnerable children with a loving home and a brighter future is something to celebrate! You can share your fundraising page with your friends and family via email and social media so they can join you in making a difference. 

Friends and family members can also donate to your fundraiser via a check made payable to SOS Children’s Villages. After they write the name of your fundraiser in the memo line, they can mail it to the following address:

Once we receive and process the donation, we will update the total on your fundraising page.

Who receives a donation receipt?

Everyone who donates to your fundraiser and provides a mailing or email address will receive a tax receipt after their donation has been processed.

Is it safe to donate to SOS Children’s Villages through We-R-SOS?

The privacy of our donors is paramount to us, and all donations to SOS Children’s Villages are transferred safely and securely through an encrypted SSL connection. 

Your financial and personal information is protected and encrypted at all times on secure servers during transmission and payment processing according to strict data security guidelines and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards ("PCI" requirements).

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising goal?

No matter the size, every donation helps vulnerable children around the world! You should feel proud of the positive, life-changing difference you made in the lives of children who need it most. Even if you don’t reach your fundraising goal, please know we are incredibly grateful for your contribution to SOS Children’s Villages and the invaluable awareness you raised for children in need.

Can I change the duration and/or goal of my fundraiser?

Of course! You can change the duration, goal or end date of your fundraiser at any time. To do so, log in to your account, select the relevant action in the menu and click ‘Edit.’ Then, adjust your fundraiser’s duration and/or goal however you would like. 

Can I limit who can see and donate to my fundraising page?

If you would like to keep your fundraiser private to your friends, family or coworkers, you can limit the visibility of your fundraising page.

When setting up your fundraising page, navigate to ‘My Actions’ and click ‘Edit.’ Then, uncheck the box ‘My action is searchable for other users on this website.’ When this is no longer selected, your page cannot be found through the search function and can only be accessed through a personal link.

Do I have to upload a personal photo to my page?

If you prefer not to use a personal picture, you can select one of the provided SOS Children’s Villages images instead.

How will the donations to my fundraiser be distributed to SOS Children’s Villages programs?

You can choose how your donations will be used to help vulnerable children around the world! 

When you create your fundraising page, you can choose to designate donations “where they are needed most” or to a specific program area or region. 

The funds you raise directly support the children and families in the program you select, and the infrastructure that makes implementation possible. If you have questions regarding the program options, please contact us at fundraise@sos-usa.org or (202) 347-7920.

What happens to my fundraising page when its duration has ended?

When your fundraising page’s duration ends, it’s time to celebrate! Donations of any amount provide impactful, life-changing support and resources to children and families in need. 

You will receive an email when your fundraiser ends. You can decide whether you’d like to extend your fundraiser or close it. However, please note that your closed fundraising page will remain on the website unless you adjust your settings to limit the page’s visibility.

Is it possible for someone to donate to my fundraiser after it has ended?             

While your fundraising page will appear as ‘ended’, your friends and family can still make donations.

What happens with my fundraising page when the goal has been reached?

Congratulations! Your fundraiser and the support of all your friends and family make it possible for SOS Children’s Villages to ensure every child has a loving family and the resources they need to thrive. 

When your fundraising goal has been reached, you will receive a notification. You can decide whether you would like to end your fundraiser or increase your goal to continue raising donations!
