Upon registration as a user of We-R-SOS, personal data—such as your name and email address—is collected. SOS Children’s Villages USA shall use this data exclusively for the purpose of running your fundraising page.

By using We-R-SOS, you are complying to the following conditions:

1. Your fundraising page may be searchable by other users on We-R-SOS.

Your fundraising page will not be visible on search engines but can be found through the search function on We-R-SOS as well as by your personal URL.

2. Your fundraising page may appear on the “Top 10 fundraisers” leader board.

The “Top 10 Fundraisers” leader board lists our top-performing fundraisers. By using We-R-SOS, you are consenting to your fundraising page being posted on the leader board and referred to by SOS Children’s Villages on other platforms.

3. You will be notified with each donation and update to your fundraising page.

By using We-R-SOS, you may receive email notifications each time a donation is made to your fundraising page.

User terms and conditions

The user has full responsibility for their actions and content posted on We-R-SOS. Before posting content, the user must confirm that their actions do not violate any legal regulations, morality or the rights of third parties (e.g. trademark law, right to a name, copyright, protection of data privacy, youth protection). The user obligates themself to obtain the necessary approval of those involved (e.g. of photographers or persons pictured or mentioned) before posting texts or pictures.

The use of this website for commercial purposes is not allowed or only with explicit consent of SOS Children’s Villages USA.

SOS Children’s Villages USA dissociates from pornographic, xenophobic, sexist, discriminatory or aspersive content, or content that glorifies violence. SOS Children’s Villages USA reserves the right to end fundraisers, remove users or take further measures against users that post this type of content.

If a user finds content on We-R-SOS which they consider to be infringing upon existing laws and regulations, the user is obligated to inform SOS Children’s Villages USA about the content.

Cancellation of fundraisers

You may end your fundraiser at any time. To do so, please log in to your account to adjust the duration of your fundraiser or contact us at fundraise@sos-usa.org or (202) 347-7920. SOS Children’s Villages USA may also terminate your fundraiser at any time for reasons including but not limited to violation of the user policy or incorrect registration data.

SOS Children’s Villages USA is entitled to block users from some or all features of We-R-SOS, including the ability to enter or edit content to the website. Furthermore, SOS Children’s Villages USA has the right to block or delete all content entered by users on We-R-SOS.

Security and protection of confidential information and payment data

We process payments with accredited and approved technology. Payment data is transferred via an SSL connection with the highest possible encryption permitted by your browser.

Data of all online transactions is saved on a high security server with an international, experienced and acknowledged company. Several built-in security levels protect the registered data, including but not limited to a highly developed firewall system, encryption of credit card numbers and the use of passwords.

No liability for the content of websites of third parties

Third party websites may be linked through We-R-SOS. As we have no influence on these websites, we cannot accept any liability for their availability. Neither can we recommend any content, advertisements, products or other material available through such websites or resources, nor can we take any responsibility or liability. Furthermore, we do not take any direct or indirect responsibility or liability for damages or loss which are caused or allegedly caused by using such contents, goods or services which are available on externally linked websites or resources.

Liability for the use of We-R-SOS

Regarding the services offered for free on or via the website (e.g. creation of a personal fundraising page as well as use of the offered features), SOS Children’s Villages USA is only liable in case of deliberate or grossly negligent acts of their legal representatives or their co-workers regarding their work-related activities for the organization. These liability limitations are valid for all claims for damages, irrespective if they are based on a breach of contract, an unlawful act or any other reason.
